Project 2016 – The Navarro Home

My name is Melissa Navarro. I am married to Jesse Navarro and we have two sons Nick and Carson. We are active members of New Harmony Baptist Church and have lived in the New Harmony community most of our lives. Jesse and I have suffered many hardships in the last few years. His job at Goodyear came to an abrupt end and we had to sell our home. He later went to work at Brookshire Grocery Company until recently when he suffered permanent kidney failure and started dialysis. He is currently on the transplant list and once he gets a new kidney he will continue to take medicine for the rest of his life. He hopes to go back to work when he gets a transplant.

Our son Carson suffers from his own set of issues. Not only did he suffer from a stroke before birth, he also has the same genetic disease his dad has. Even though Carson seems to be fine for now, he most likely will live at home for the rest of his life. We are hoping and praying that he will continue to develop and will be able to provide for himself. He alone has been a miracle and does way more than the doctors had ever expected him to.

We currently rent from a very sweet couple from our church. we have lived in our rent house for the last three years. We love our little place, but we know we would be better off in a home of our own. We have so many unknowns and not so positive outlooks in our future that owning a home would eliminate many of our fears.
