Project 2012 – The Harris Home

We are the Harris family. My name is Heather and my husband is Troy. We have 4 children…Hannah, Dakotah, Kaelyn, & Carson.

Our story begins when Lesa Bell was teaching a ladies Bible Study that I attended.

We learned a little about each other through this period of time and as a result she and her family wanted to surprise us with fixing up a few things in our home as a Christmas surprise. When she and her builder, Bill Andreason came by to take a look at our home and assess the needs, they left telling us they would get a game plan together and get back to us.

We knew our home was beyond repair but we were making due with what we had. Our youngest son had asthma and had been hospitalized for a week already. He was on preventative meds twice a day as well as breathing treatments as needed. He had home visits with asthma specialist to aid us in caring for his condition.

Upon the initial visit of our home, Bill noticed there was holes in the floors and mold on the walls that was contributing to our sons asthma condition.

When they returned two weeks later they sat us down to ask us if they could build us a new home. They showed us a house plan and waited for our response.

Never have I ever seen a prayer answered so clearly and in such an unexpected way!

I turned and looked at my husband expectantly waiting for his response to their question.

This precious man swallowed every last ounce of pride he had and said yes. But as he did, a huge burden was lifted from his shoulders and he and I were never more grateful.

But the story doesn’t end there. After Bill and Lesa left our home we went to tell our children how God had just answered our prayers. Our oldest daughter Hannah had been struggling with us praying for God to provide a new home for us. She had said it was silly to pray that prayer because God’s not going to just give us a house! When he told her the news she just cried and he looked at her and told her don’t ever think praying for something is pointless or ridiculous. God does answer prayers…in his time and in his way!!
